Today we took the Joey Scouts across to Springbank Island (which is in the middle of Lake Burley Griffin).
This was the first thing we saw after getting off the boat.
The theme was Pirates and they did activities such as catapults, walking the plank and tug-of-war. They also made little pirate boats, which the cicadas seemed to like the look of.
There were heaps of cicadas on the island. Since joey scouts is still predominantly boys, several were badly smushed in pockets and had to be rescued.
One of the last activities my mob went on was the canoes. This was run by the water activities team and had the sea scouts looking after the joeys. The joeys (naturally) got their revenge when they 'stormed the shore' and hit the scouts with foam noodles.
Here are some random photos of Canberra I took from the boat on the way back.
A fun day was had by all and I think no one got burnt, which is a minor miracle.
